BERKLEE COLLEGE OF MUSIC

In 2012, Berklee College of Music announced that composer/producer Robert Kraft had joined the faculty at Berklee College of Music’s campus in Valencia, Spain, as Visiting Professor of Music and Media. The former president and executive director of Fox Music Inc. (1994-2012) has been an artistic advisor for the film-scoring department at the College’s new international campus in Valencia for the past three years. His appointment has brought the master’s students closer to the Hollywood music industry than ever.

During Kraft’s visits to the Valencia campus, he lectures specifically to the students in Berklee’s master’s program in scoring for film, TV, and video games. Through a series of clinics and master classes, Robert has shared his knowledge and experience with degree students who study the role that music plays on the big screen and the art and craft of composing, orchestrating, editing, and producing music for films.

As part of the one year film-scoring program, the master’s students also visit Los Angeles to meet renowned Hollywood musicians and composers. This experience is designed to give the students direct contact with the music-scoring industry, enabling them to gain a better understanding of its synergies and workings. They also have the opportunity to record some of their own compositions in a Hollywood studio.

During his tenure as President of Music at 20th Century Fox, Kraft oversaw the music scoring for over 300 films, including Avatar, Moulin Rouge, Titanic, Ice Age, Slumdog Millionaire, and Black Swan, as well as the music for successful TV series such as Ally McBeal, The X-Files, The Simpsons, and 24, making Robert the perfect addition to Berklee’s film-scoring department.
